WMF AMBASSADORS

The Wilmington Music Festival seeks volunteers to serve as its special “Music Ambassadors”.

The WMF Ambassadors will provide valuable support to the Festival in fulfilling its mission of bringing to Wilmington world-class musical events and educational activities aimed at enriching the cultural life of the community and contributing to the quality of music education in southeastern North Carolina.

In return for their efforts, the Ambassadors will enjoy special benefits like complimentary tickets to WMF concerts; invitations to exclusive events not open to the general public - like “Meet the Artist” salon concerts especially organized for the Music Ambassadors; advance notice of all WMF’s future events; and recognition in all WMF programs and related printed materials.

The greatest need for volunteer services will occur during the concert season, usually from September through June. The Music Ambassadors will be asked to offer assistance to WMF’s staff as needed, as well as to audiences and to the general public, serving in various capacities:

Hospitality Volunteers (Greeters) for WMF’s Emerging Artists and Outreach Concerts and for Public Master Classes:

These Ambassadors will greet sponsors and patrons, as well as representatives of the press and media at these and other WMF public events at various venues throughout the community. They will also help with distributing to the public information about the Festival and its various activities.

Greeters will be needed at various times and days at several venues across the greater Wilmington community.

Hospitality Volunteers (Greeters) for WMF’s Main Season Concerts:

These greeters will complement the regular front-of-house theater employees (ticket takers and ushers) by welcoming audience members to WMF’s main season concert presentations, handing out programs and assisting in directing concertgoers to their seats.

Volunteers must be available to greet at least one event per month during the season. Most concerts are held on weekday evenings or weekends.

Welcome & Information Desk Personnel for WMF Events:

These Music Ambassadors will be stationed at the Welcome & Information Desks in the lobbies of the various performance venues before all WMF events and activities open to the public, including the WMF Emerging Artist and Outreach Concerts and Master Classes. Their duties will include explaining the mission and activities of WMF, answering questions posed by audience members and sharing printed materials.

Volunteers must be available to serve at least one event per month during the season. Most concerts are held on weekday evenings or weekends.

WMF Staff Support:

WMF Ambassadors who provide staff support will assist regular Festival staff with both short-term and ongoing projects. Typical tasks include preparing and dispersing mailings, organizing and distributing printed materials, and general office support.

Ambassadors will be asked to volunteer one or two shifts per week. Shift periods are from 10 AM to 1 PM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Other days and times may be added as needed.

All applications to volunteer as WMF Ambassadors will be deeply appreciated. However, they will be evaluated on a rotating basis as help is needed – especially in preparation for the concert seasons.
